The History of Money in Brazil

Real 1994
Coins: 1 Real (1994), and 1 Real (1998)
Note: 1 Real.

On July 1, 1994, the Real was established. One URV was fixed in CR$ 2,750.00 and corresponded to one Real. The Central Bank of Brazil determined the replacement of all coins and notes in circulation. This was one of the largest changes of money ever happened in the world, considering the continental dimension of Brazil and the short time in which the change took place. In 1998, a new family of coins was launched, using metals and sizes clearly differentiated among them to facilitate their handling by part of the population.
