The institutions will assess technical, operational, legal and business-related aspects of interlinking the two public payment infrastructures.</span></p><div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"border&#58;0px;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;15px;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px 0px 8pt;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;#242424;background-color&#58;#ffffff !important;\"><p class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"margin-top&#58;1em;margin-bottom&#58;1em;\"><span style=\"border&#58;0px;font-style&#58;inherit;font-variant&#58;inherit;font-weight&#58;inherit;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;11pt;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;black !important;\">TIPS was created as a pan-European infrastructure for instant settlement in central bank money and currently operates with the euro, the Swedish krona and the Danish krone, with planned expansion to other European Economic Area (EEA) currencies. The interlinking with Pix would complement the Eurosystem’s ongoing work to connect TIPS to other instant payment infrastructures, including Nexus and the payment systems of India and Switzerland.</span></p></div><div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"border&#58;0px;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;15px;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px 0px 8pt;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;#242424;background-color&#58;#ffffff !important;\"><p class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"margin-top&#58;1em;margin-bottom&#58;1em;\"><span style=\"border&#58;0px;font-style&#58;inherit;font-variant&#58;inherit;font-weight&#58;inherit;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;11pt;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;black !important;\">In view of the significant economic and financial flows between Brazil and the euro area, the interlinking of Pix and TIPS could contribute to faster, more efficient and lower-cost cross-border payments between the two jurisdictions.</span></p></div><div class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"border&#58;0px;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;15px;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px 0px 8pt;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;#242424;background-color&#58;#ffffff !important;\"><p class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"margin-top&#58;1em;margin-bottom&#58;1em;\"><span style=\"border&#58;0px;font-style&#58;inherit;font-variant&#58;inherit;font-weight&#58;inherit;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;11pt;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;black !important;\">This initiative is part of Pix’s evolutionary agenda and of the BCB’s efforts to interlink the Brazilian instant payment system with similar multilateral and foreign payment infrastructures. These interlinkages could enable international remittances and purchase transactions with funds made available in local currency within seconds. More broadly, interlinking instant payment systems has the potential to reduce costs, increase speed, broaden access and improve the transparency of cross-border transactions, in line with the objectives of the G20 Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-Border Payments.</span></p><p class=\"x_elementToProof\" style=\"margin-top&#58;1em;margin-bottom&#58;1em;\"><span style=\"border&#58;0px;font-style&#58;inherit;font-variant&#58;inherit;font-weight&#58;inherit;font-stretch&#58;inherit;font-size&#58;11pt;line-height&#58;inherit;font-size-adjust&#58;inherit;font-feature-settings&#58;inherit;margin&#58;0px;padding&#58;0px;vertical-align&#58;baseline;color&#58;black !important;\"><span data-olk-copy-source=\"MessageBody\" style=\"font-family&#58;calibri, sans-serif;font-size&#58;11pt;color&#58;#000000;\"><a href=\"https&#58;//www.ecb.europa.eu/press/intro/news/html/ecb.mipnews260924.en.html\">Click here</a> to access the ECB communication.</span><br></span></p></div></div>","lead":null}]}
