500.000 Réis

Besides the Rio de Janeiro Mint, several foreign manufacturers were commissioned to produce Brazilian notes from 1896 to 1923: Bradbury Wilkinson, Georges Duval, Cartiére P. Miliani, and the American Bank Note Company, that produced this 500,000 Réis note for the National Treasury in 1911.

               
     

100 Réis

Between 1918 and 1935 a new series of change coins was struck in cupronickel. The 100 Réis coin became known as Tostão.
